I am participating to a US match (NRMP) at the same time as CaRMS. How does that work?

Our system is designed to allow you to identify your participation in designated matches in the United States (National Resident Matching Program - NRMP). When at the step of selecting programs in your CaRMS Online account, you will be asked to confirm this information. This is what allows CaRMS and the NRMP to communicate on where you match to first so that you can be automatically withdrawn from whatever match comes after.

IMPORTANT: As per the CaRMS applicant contract, you must ensure that you only match in one match. Please see the table below for potential conflicts. For all matches not listed, you must ONLY submit a rank list in CaRMS or in the NRMP.

Potential CaRMS/NRMP match conflicts
CaRMS match NRMP match
R-1 Main Residency Match NRMP Main Residency Match
Medicine Subspecialty Match Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP)
Pedicatric Subspecialty Match Pediatric Specialties Spring Match (PSSM)
