Would a 'one year' post-graduate training program in the US (not residency) make me ineligible for first iteration of R-1?

If an applicant did not get matched in either NRMP or CaRMS, but wish to complete a post-graduate training program in the United States, this would make them ineligible for first iteration of future R-1 matches.

An applicant would only be eligible for second iteration of an R-1 match if they participate in a post-graduate training program in the US as resolved by the AFMC Board of Directors.

Per the AFMC Motion:

"That participation in the first iteration of the Canadian Residency Match be restricted to eligible graduates of LCME/CACMS accredited schools or international medical schools, who have had no previous RCPSC/CFPC/ACGME accredited postgraduate training."
