What is the MINC?

The MINC (Medical Identification Number for Canada) is a unique, lifetime identifier for all individuals who enter the Canadian medical education or practice system.

This system was developed with the goal of providing a reliable means of identifying every individual in the Canadian medical education and practice systems. With MINC, a licensed user can ensure that all physicians are accurately identified in their own databaseand in the databases of every other licensed user with whom they share or compare data.

CaRMS and AFMC are both MINC licensed users, as are 12 of the 17 Canadian Faculties of Medicine.
