There are three types of references for this match:
Letter of reference: This type of reference document is a detailed letter that describes a referee’s experiences with the student and recommending them for further medical training.
Applicant support form: This type of reference document can be requested if student’s are applying to a program that requires it as part of their application. It is the student’s responsibility to provide a copy of the form, as it is not provided by CaRMS. Student’s can find these forms in the program descriptions of programs requiring them or in the list below.
Family Medicine Structured Reference letter: This type of reference document can be requested if applicants are applying to Family Medicine programs that require it. This type of reference document is completed inline by reference providers, which means that applicants must pick this option from the drop-down menu in their CaRMS Online account when requesting a reference for Family Medicine specifically.
Below is a list of programs requiring a reference form.
PLEASE NOTE: Although we try our best to keep the list of programs that require a reference form as up to date as possible, it is the applicant's responsibility to review program descriptions to confirm a program's reference requirements.
