If your university requires reversion instructions in the match, your postgraduate office (PGME) can submit them through your CaRMS Online account from the "Program Management –-> Reversions Approval" page under the match menu.
STEP 1: Indicate whether you have reversion instructions. If you click YES, steps 2 to 4 will appear. If you click NO, proceed to step 5.
STEP 2: Download the reversion instructions form.
STEP 3: Fill out the form.
STEP 4: Submit the completed and signed for to CaRMS by the PGME approval deadline.
STEP 5: Click SAVE.
PGME offices can use one of three methods to transfer any number of potentially unfilled positions (quota).
- Transfer unfilled positions from one program to another
PGME offices can list an instruction to transfer any number of potentially unfilled positions directly from one program to another.
As an example, if your Gastroenterology program does not fill the number of positions allotted, the PGME office can instruct to transfer a potential unfilled position from this program to your Neonatal program during the running of the match.
- Transfer unfilled positions to a pool
Using the same form, PGME offices can list the programs for which they would like to transfer unfilled positions to a pool. In the pool, enter the designated programs you wish to receive a position, in order of preference. Each line represents one unfilled position transferred to a program. During the match, unfilled positions will be transferred to the pool, then transferred to the programs in the order of preference specified.
- Custom transfer (reversion) instructions – Fall Subspecialty Residency Match and Spring Subspecialty Residency Match only
You can also create custom transfer (reversion) instructions unique to your faculty for the two matches. If you choose this option, we recommend that you discuss your reversion instructions with CaRMS before uploading a copy of the detailed instructions in CaRMS Online prior to the PGME approval deadline.
